Learning Pro headshots with Fujifilm X-E1

I have not been blogging for quite some time, there had been a number new things going on at the moment. One of which is my desire to shoot really good quality headshots. So how do I set about learning. A good place to start is to learn from others. One of the very best in the headshot business is Peter Hurley. A flamboyant character from New York who was once a successful male model that moved from the front of the lens to behind the camera. He has been extremely successful change for him. So how do you start the learning journey and what compromises do you have to make as a beginner.

That time of year……new

I have not posted in a very very long time. The reasons are many but two reasons stand out. Firstly I was made redundant from the day job, yikes! so I needed to focus on finding new employment with the day job skills I have to offer. Thankfully I am now back in work and it’s going well. Learning curve is steep again as you would expect when starting a new job but all is good. Secondly we have not been able to get away in the camper so my desire to pick up the camera has been low.

I must confess

I recently took a paid assignment and as much as I tried I could not avoid changing lenses, I needed a wide angle in order to get the shot. I’m disappointed that I was not able to keep to my New Years Resolution and challenge for 2014. Ok it was a tall order but I was hoping I could make it. Unfortunately I could not risk not getting the shots that the client needed and I was not prepared to risk this for my NYR. Oh well that’s the way it is. I have confessed but not given up. I will continue shoot with 1camera1lens, this was a little hiccup in the grand plan.

Location Salon group shot.

I guess I should at least show some of the shots and the various post processed images.
