I think I’m going to be selling all my DSLR gear .
This time last year I plucked up the courage the purchase the then renowned and some what loved and hated Fujifilm X100. As you have seen from my blogs it’s been a well used and well written about camera. Fuji was quick to realise it hit in a great format with APSC sized sensors in small bodies with electronic view finders. Now since the X100 there have been slew of new APSC sized retro cameras and including Fuji launching the gobsmacking good looking but hugely expensive X-Pro1, it’s clear the market is changing.
Pro am’s and pro photographers are a little tired of lugging the Massive DSLRs around just for leisure shooting. Until recently it’s been really hard to get great image quality in a compact camera unless you could afford a Lieca M9. Now the playing compact retro camera market sector is taking off. Micro4/3 systems had a jolly good stab at it for a while but didn’t seems to light the fuse and the idea of a really good image quality compact did not really take off until the X100 burst onto the scene with 12mp APSC.
Now almost 2 years down the road from the awesome but quirky X100 Fuji look set to do it all again and have a camera sold out for 6 months after launch date sometime this month. The X-E1 is going to be a killer and the camera to beat for 2013. Just take a look.
It’s stunning, looking at the reviews Fuji has been paying very close attention to its customers that have bought the X100 and X-pro1. It’s clear the x100 was crying out for interchangeable lens’s and it’s clear the X-pro1 was just to expensive and needed to have great manual focus ability. Taking in also that, like me most users don’t really use the optical viewfinder but love instead the electronic one, I spend 95% of my time looking at that little wonder in my x100 just wishing it had higher resolution to help my focus with easy and Have better colour contrast.
It’s looking like the X-E1 is going to address these big issues. No optical view cool who needs one on a none rangefinder, better manual focus god I hop it works, 2x increased resolution EVF I can’t wait to look in there. Interchangeable lens system just brilliant. Fuji please please please send me one to test and review.
This link will give you much more information so go take a look at the most exciting camera of this year and the most popular camera of 2013. (unless the Leica M9 price is slashed by 70% of course).
I can’t wait and I am even considering selling all my Nikon gear buying the Fuji X-E1 and 3 lens’s and an M mount adaptor ( yep that’s coming too) and then bolting on something special mmmm yes please Santa.
